Saturday night's game in Athens was a tale of 2 halves. We came with a great game plan, executed that plan, and had the #1 team in the country in a big hole going into halftime.
I don't know what happened during the break, did UGA wake up or did we fall asleep at the wheel ... or a little of both?
As up and then down as the game was, we had quite a few guys that played really great games and I think that's only going to do good things for us in the future.
It's not a "moral victory" to be able to look and see positives in a loss. A moral victory is when you don't believe you have a chance, but all the chips fall in your favor and you're satisfied with a close loss.
Saturday wasn't a moral victory, but Saturday also wasn't a catastrophic loss either and there was a lot we can take, improve on, and be a better team in the future for.
Honorable Mentions:
Spencer Rattler - Spencer doing Spencer things. He played a great game and really showed off his mobility, but we never want him being the leading rusher in any game. Those 2 picks were forced and out of frustration, but he played one helluva game.
Omega Blake - We're starting to see #89 blossoming into the future for Carolina at WR. It's great to see him stepping up, as it looks like we're going to need him to be the other option to XL going forward.
Debo Williams - Debo has been a consistent bright spot on this Defense all season. He led the team in tackles, yet again, and was all over the field Saturday night.
Coming into the season the Dline was on a lot of people's list as a question mark. Could we get pressure on QBs and could we stop the run?
Well, Saturday night we got the best performance out of the Dline that we've seen, in my opinion, all season and then some. We had multiple guys being disruptive, pushing guys back, and causing all kinds of problems for UGA.
But there was one guy that was consistent from the first play to the last. He was 3rd on the team with tackles (only 2 from 1st place) and had over twice as many as the next lineman. He also lead the team in tackles for loss.
He's a guy that I really think is going to continue to have a great season and this year could really catapult his career into him being a top Dlineman for us.
